SUMMARY:Their Music Lives On (Viktor Ulllmann and other artists)
DESCRIPTION:TROUPOVÁ & HOLUB & DUŠEK\n\n\n\n\n\nTo mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War\, we are commemorating the works of authors who were victims of the war. Songs and piano pieces by Viktor Ullmann\, Rudolf Karel\, Pavel Haas and Hans Krása will be performed. \n\n\n\nThe concert will be preceded at 5.30 pm by a lecture by musicologist and translator Magdalena Živná on the personality and work of Viktor Ullmann and a presentation of his recently published monograph in Czech. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJerusalem Synagogue\, Prague\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme:\n\n\n\n\nViktor Ullmann:  Six sonnets de Louïze Labé op. 34 (selection) \n\n\n\nPavel Haas: Suite for piano\, op. 13 (selection) \n\n\n\nHans Krása: 5 Lieder\, op. 4 \n\n\n\nRudolf Karel: In the Glow of the Hellenic Sun\, Op. 24 \n\n\n\nSylva Smejkalová: A la faveur de la nuit \n\n\n\nViktor Ullmann: Brezulinka \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers:\n\n\n\n\nIrena Troupová – soprano\n\n\n\n\nThe eminent Czech soprano Irena Troupová gained international renown through the historically-based interpretation of early music\, which she devoted herself to already during her musicology studies at Charles University in Prague. She studied singing under Terezie Blumová in Prague\, later under M. Corelli in Berlin. She collaborated with the ensemble Musica Antiqua Praha led by Pavel Klikar\, creating a string of recordings and exceptionally successful concerts both at home and abroad. At that time she also found an interest in contemporary music and has worked with the likes of Petr Eben\, Svatopluk Havelka and others. After her studies she performed mainly in Germany\, but the demand for her talent also grew rapidly in other countries (England\, Italy\, Denmark\, Sweden\, France\, Switzerland\, Poland). She worked with many different ensembles (e.g. Orpheon Consort\, Johann-Rosenmüller-Ensemble\, Schütz-Akademie\, Capella Sagittariana\, Dresdener Barockorchester\, Lautten-Compagney\, Kievskaya Kamerata) and conductors (Howard Arman\, Joshua Rifkin\, Frieder Bernius\, Thomas Hengelbrock\, Florian Heyerick\, Vojtěch Spurný and others). This cooperation brought about a number of recordings. Irena Troupová was a regular participant in the concert programmes of the State Opera in Berlin and the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. Among the most interesting opera productions that she took part in during her German period\, a mention should be made of Monteverdi’s Orfeo headed by Joshua Rifkin in Basel\, Freiburg and Mulhouse (the roles of Musica and Proserpine)\, of the modern premiere of H.I.F. Biber’s opera Arminius in Salzburg (later released on CD)\, but also of Le malade imaginaire of M.-A. Charpentier and J.-B. Lully in Berlin. \n\n\n\nIrena Troupová is a frequent guest singer at international music festivals\, including Tage der alten Musik Herne\, Pražské jaro (Prague Spring)\, Festival de musique baroque Caen\, Holland-festival oudemuziek Utrecht\, Bach-Festival Sumy and Concenturs Moraviae\, to name a few. \n\n\n\nIrena’s early music projects over recent years include programmes in cooperation with the Comic Opera (Berlin)\, German radio NDR (Norddeutscher Rundfunk) and Belgian conductor Florian Heyerik (Salto vocale – fragments from the operas of G. Ph. Telemann)\, with Musica Florea (operatic projects – Ch. W. Gluck: La Danza\, G. F. Händel: Terpsicore)\, Ensemble Tourbillon\, Barbara M. Willi\, Jaroslav Tůma\, Monika Knoblochová\, Petra Matějová and others. More recently\, she has been working closely with the international ensemble Orpheon; they have toured Spain\, Austria and France together and have also recorded an album\, Marin Marais and his friends. She has collaborated with members of the Staatskapelle Berlin\, joining in a fascinating project connecting the musicality of the Baroque with that of the Modern: Musik im Dialog – Claudio Monteverdi und Luciano Berio\, a concert cycle in the State Opera in Berlin which was followed by a programme from the works of J. S. Bach\, Bach – reloaded. \n\n\n\nIrena Troupová has gradually extended her scope to include Romantic and Modern lyrical and operatic works. She has performed songs from German and French Romanticism a number of times at the concerts of the Prague Symphony Orchestra and the Czech Philharmonic (the early songs of Gustav Mahler). She has also given voice to Jan Dušek’s orchestral songs Chalomet yehudi’im together with Orchestra BERG for the EBU and the songs of Miloš Štědroň for Czech Radio. \n\n\n\nLately\, she has focused her attention on the music of the 20th and 21st century; she recorded Bohuslav Martinů’s opera Le jour de bonté (The Day of Charity) for Arco Diva. She has performed the works of Marek Kopelent (the Singspiel Musica\, the cantata Agnus Dei at Prague Spring 2012) – she joined the Prague Philharmonia conducted by Jakub Hrůša to render the premiere of Kopelent’s Pozdní sběr (Late Harvest). She is also actively interested in the music of interwar authors – Viktor Ullmann\, Erwin Schulhoff\, Norbert von Hannenheim\, Philip Herschkowitz – performing their works to international audiences and recording a number of their compositions for Czech Radio and Deutschlandfunk. Irena Troupová is also greatly valued as a tutor of early music\, teaching at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts and Masaryk University in Brno\, and in courses both in the Czech Republic and abroad. \n\n\n\nShe is a co-founder of the Lieder Company Prague. \n\n\n\nwww.troupova.com \n\n\n\n\nOndřej Holub – tenor\n\nIn his early youth Ondřej Holub went through Kühn’s children’s choir and the Pueri gaudentes boys’ choir\, thanks to which he became a child soloist of the Prague State Opera in a production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Piano sonata\, Zwei Chinesische Lieder\, Drei Sonette\, Brezulinka\, Little Cakewalk \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers:\n\n\n\n\nIrena Troupová – soprano\n\n\n\n\nThe eminent Czech soprano Irena Troupová gained international renown through the historically-based interpretation of early music\, which she devoted herself to already during her musicology studies at Charles University in Prague. \n\n\n\nwww.troupova.com \n\n\n\n\nJan Dušek – piano\n\nJan Dušek studied at the Conservatory in Teplice (piano\, composition). SUMMARY:Songs With Moravian Scent
DESCRIPTION:SIBERA & HROCHOVÁ & HOLUB & DUŠEK\n\n\n\n\n\nCANCELLED\n\n\n\nIn 1875\, Antonín Dvořák began composing the first of his Moravian Duets to folk poetry. Although he originally intended only to adapt folk songs\, in the end he used only Moravian folk texts and set them to music in his own original way. The first non-public performance of these duets took place in the home environment of the wholesaler and patron Jan Neff. And their success inspired Dvořák to compose others. The first four are for soprano and tenor with piano\, the others for soprano and alto. Usually only a selection of the best known are performed in concert. But at our concert you will hear all 23 performed by soprano Jana Sibera\, mezzo-soprano Jana Hrochová and tenor Ondřej Holub. \n\n\n\nBut since Moravian folk poetry did not only inspire Dvořák\, we will supplement his duets with virtually unknown songs by Antonín Tučapský and Miloslav Kabeláč. Last but not least\, we will hear one of the most impressive Czech song cycles of the 20th century\, Ej\, srdenko moje by Klement Slavický. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovoměstská radnice\, Praha\n\n\n\nVelký sál\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme:\n\n\n\n\nAntonín Dvořák: Moravské dvojzpěvy op. 20\, 32 a 38 \n\n\n\nKlement Slavický: Ej\, srdenko moje \n\n\n\nAntonín Tučapský: Kvítí milodějné\, op. 7  \n\n\n\nMiloslav Kabeláč: Milostné písně  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers:\n\n\n\n\nJana Sibera – soprano\n\n\n\n\nSoprano Jana Sibera graduated from the Prague Conservatory (2000) and the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (2005). SUMMARY:Benefit Concert for SIRIRI

If you wish to purchase a ticket in a different amount\, please contact us at vstupenky@liedercompany.cz. Thank you. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTicket sales are handled by \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhom are we helping?\n\n\n\n\nSIRIRI\, o.p.s\n\n\n\nSIRIRI is a Czech non-profit organization that helps Central Africans get back on their feet. \n\n\n\nOur mission is development aid to “donor orphans” – poor countries that are outside the interests of other organisations and official aid\, but cannot do without outside help. Awareness and education for “development thinking” and consciousness of co-responsibility for the situation in Africa. \n\n\n\nWe implement sustainable development projects in the Central African Republic (CAR) in collaboration with a reliable partner organization on the ground (the Genoese Province of the Barefoot Carmelites). The main goal of all SIRIRI projects is the resulting independence of the people of CAR from outside help – “helping them to stand on their own feet”. SIRIRI seeks to flourish the SAR’s own human and natural potential. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHealthy kidneys as a Christmas wish come true \n\n\n\nIt’s Christmas Day and my cell phone is ringing into the holiday season. A WhatsApp call from an unknown number with a Central African Republic area code. No\, really\, I’m not going to deal with work at Christmas yet! So I just write a dry reply saying it’s the holidays and what the person in question needs. I get a reply\, “Hello\, I’m so sorry to disturb you at Christmas time. Doctor Cédric gave me your number. I just wanted to thank you personally that thanks to your organization we can spend Christmas together as a family. Our son Josué wouldn’t be here otherwise. Thank you and have a wonderful Christmas!” Touchedness is replaced by amazement. It’s a bit like the Bible story when one of the ten lepers returns to thank Jesus for healing him. And so I silently thank the Lord God. And who is Josué? A student at the high school in Bangui\, where his daddy also teaches. He’s 19 now. He was just 18 when this story happened. He wasn’t feeling well\, and it soon turned out to be malaria. His parents did everything they could for him – including medical care. But the disease was very strong\, even frightening. After a few days\, the young man’s kidneys failed. The only chance of survival became the possibility of blood dialysis. \n\n\n\nStories that can go on \n\n\n\nFortunately\, a new clinic has been operating in Bangui for a year now\, headed by a young doctor\, Cédric Ouanekpon\, who used to see Josué regularly in the paediatrics pavilion next door. Unfortunately\, the family no longer had the means to cover the necessary eight sessions of hemodialysis. Cases like this rarely become chronic. One session costs 20\,000 Central African francs (750 CZK). Such treatment is equivalent to more than one month’s salary for an ordinary teacher in Bangui. But SIRIRI can fund similar cases\, enabling treatment where it would not be possible for financial reasons… and saving the lives of those who would otherwise not receive care and would have to die needlessly. And so we helped in this case. Josué will graduate next year. He would like to become an accountant or maybe just a doctor\, seeing how much good it can do! \n\n\n\nTaken from Catholic Weekly No. 45/2023 \n\n\n\nAuthor Jana Škubalová\, SIRIRI\, o.p.s. \n\n\n\nhttps://siriri.org/en/project/first-aid-fund-for-patients-of-the-blood-dialysis-centre-in-bangui/ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme:\n\n\n\n\nSongs\, Arias and Duets by Antonín Dvořák\, Bedřich Smetana\, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and others \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers:\n\n\n\n\nIrena Troupová – soprano\n\n\n\n\nThe eminent Czech soprano Irena Troupová gained international renown through the historically-based interpretation of early music\, which she devoted herself to already during her musicology studies at Charles University in Prague. SUMMARY:Songs of Romantic Masters
DESCRIPTION:HROCHOVÁ & ČERVINEK & ŘEZNÍČEK & STEHLÍK\n\n\n\n\n\nIt would surely be a great mistake to omit the anniversary of Johannes Brahms (1833 – 1897)\, whose song output is as fundamental as his chamber or symphonic works\, in 2023. For this concert\, we have therefore chosen the lesser-performed works of this great Romantic composer and supplemented them with other works by the jubilee Romantic composers Edvard Hagerup Grieg (1843-1907) and Max Reger (1873-1916). The work of the latter is virtually unknown in this country\, and his songs may never have been heard in Bohemia. The programme will surprisingly conclude pieces by seldomly performed but interesting composers Frank Bridge (1879 – 1941) and Adolph Busch (1839 – 1913). \n\n\n\nThese romantic song gems will be performed by leading Czech mezzo-soprano Jana Hrochová\, young promising baritone Robin Červinek\, violist Jan Řezníček and pianist Bohumír Stehlík. \n\n\n\nThe concert will take place in the sought-after pleasant environment of Club Salsita in Smíchov. \n\n\n\nThe compositions will be performed in the original languages and accompanied by Czech subtitles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSalsita Club\, Prague – Smíchov\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme:\n\n\n\n\nJohannes Brahms: 2 Gesange\, Op. 91 for voice\, viola and piano; 4 Duets\, Op.28 for mezzo-soprano\, baritone and piano \n\n\n\nEdward Hagerup Grieg: Six Songs\, op. 4; Melody of the Heart\, Op.5 \n\n\n\nMax Reger: Five Songs\, Op. 98 \n\n\n\nFrank Bridge: Three Songs for voice\, viola and piano \n\n\n\nAdolph Busch: Three Songs for voice\, viola and piano \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers:\n\n\n\n\nJana Hrochová – mezzo-soprano\n\n\n\n\nThe mezzo-soprano Jana Hrochová (Wallingerová)\, née Štefáčková\, gained her first singing experience in a children’s choir in the Moravian town of Šumperk. SUMMARY:Strings Suit Songs
DESCRIPTION:TROUPOVÁ & HROCHOVÁ & GRAFFE QUARTET\n\n\n\n\n\nThe combination of the human voice and string instruments has been attractive to many composers\, especially in the 20th century\, but remains so today. This concert is made up of works in which the accompaniment of the songs is not provided by the usual piano\, but by a string quartet or just a selection of some strings. \n\n\n\nThe concert will include the world premiere of a composition by Miloš Štědroň composed for soprano Irena Troupová and mezzo-soprano Jana Hrochová. \n\n\n\nFor the concert we have also commissioned a piece by the Czech female composer Terezie Švarcová\, which we will also perform in its world premiere. \n\n\n\nThere will also be wonderful works by Ottorino Respighi\, Viktor Ullmann and Paul Hindemith\, which were also composed for this setting. \n\n\n\nThe compositions will be presented in the original languages and accompanied by Czech subtitles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSalsita Club\, Prague – Smíchov\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme:\n\n\n\n\nOttorino Respighi: Il tramonto for voice and string quartet \n\n\n\nPaul Hindemith: Melancholie\, Op.13 for voice and string quartet \n\n\n\nViktor Ullmann: Three Songs for voice and string trio \n\n\n\nMiloš Štědroň: Cantigas y Estampidas for two female voices and string quartet /PREMIERE/ \n\n\n\nTerezie Švarcová: Vier Gedichte von Christian Morgenstern for two female voices and string quartet /PREMIERE/ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers:\n\n\n\n\nIrena Troupová – soprano\n\n\n\n\nThe eminent Czech soprano Irena Troupová gained international renown through the historically-based interpretation of early music\, which she devoted herself to already during her musicology studies at Charles University in Prague. She has also given voice to Jan Dušek’s orchestral songs Chalomot yehudi’im together with Orchestra BERG for the EBU and the songs of Miloš Štědroň for Czech Radio.\n\n  \n\n\n\nLately\, she has focused her attention on the music of the 20th and 21st century; she recorded Bohuslav Martinů’s opera Le jour de bonté (The Day of Charity) for Arco Diva. \n\n\n\nIrena Troupová is a co-founder of the Lieder Company Prague. \n\n\n\nhttps://www.troupova.com \n\n\n\n\nJana Hrochová – mezzo-soprano\n\n\n\n\nThe mezzo-soprano Jana Hrochová (Wallingerová)\, née Štefáčková\, gained her first singing experience in a children’s choir in the Moravian town of Šumperk. She studied at the Prague Conservatory with Jarmila Krásová from 1993 to 1999. In 2001\, she began studying privately with the soprano Natalia Romanová. In 1998\, she came in second at the Czech Conservatories Singing Contest. Her first engagements took place at the Opera Mozart in Prague between 1997 and 2000\, extending her activities to ancient music (with Ars Cameralis) and folk music (with the Muzika Jara ensemble).\n\nIn 2000\, Mrs Hrochová was invited to join the opera company of the National Theatre in Brno\, Czech Republic. The repertoire she sang in Brno includes Carmen (Carmen)\, Laura (La Gioconda)\, Kate (The Devil and Kate)\, Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia)\, Suzuki (Madame Butterfly)\, The Fox (The Cunning Little Vixen)\, Varvara (Katja Kabanova)\, Fenena (Nabucco)\, Hänsel (Hänsel and Gretel)\, Nicklausse (The Tales of Hoffmann) and others. Guest performances have taken the young mezzo to a number of opera houses\, such as the Prague National Theatre\, Prague State Opera\, Plzeň\, Ústí nad Labem\, Liberec\, Ostrava\, Olomouc (Czech Republic)\, State Theatre Košice (Slovakia) and Theatre Freiburg (Germany). Mrs Hrochová’s concert activities are an essential part of her repertoire and have brought her together with some leading Czech and foreign orchestras\, such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra\, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra\, Czech Philharmonic\, Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK\, Prague Radio Symphonic Orchestra\, Brno Philharmonic Orchestra\, Prague Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra\, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra\, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra and others. She works with conductors such as Jiří Bělohlávek\, Serge Baudo\, Gerd Albrecht\, Manfred Honeck\, Ondrej Lenárd\, Petr Altrichter\, Jakub Hrůša\, Leoš Svárovský\, Tomáš Hanus\, Andrej Borejko\, Dennis Russell Davies and others. Mrs Hrochová  often makes guest appearances at opera houses and concert stages outside the Czech Republic (Great Britain\, Japan\, China\, Spain\, Mexico\, Greece\, Netherlands\, Austria\, Germany and Italy).\n\nIn 2011\, she sang the alto solo in Dvorak’s Requiem mass at a state funeral of Vaclav Havel. The Brno National Theatre awarded her with the DIVA 2005\, 2008 and 2010 Award. In 2012\, she was nominated for the Thalia award for her role as Dulcinée in Massenet’s Don Quichotte in a production of the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec. In 2013\, she was nominated for the Thalia award for her role as Hermia in Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream in a production of The Brno National Theatre. SUMMARY:Songs of Russian Romantics
DESCRIPTION:HROCHOVÁ & JANÁL & DUŠEK\n\n\n\n\n\nThe double anniversary of one of the most important late Romantic composers\, Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943)\, is certainly being marked by the entire musical world. His song output is so vast that it is impossible to present it in its entirety. Therefore\, the concert will include a representative selection of it and will be complemented by works by other Russian greats Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840 – 1893)\, whose songs are rather rarely performed in this country\, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844 – 1908). The latter is usually represented mainly by the symphonic suite Scheherazade\, but the songs are completely unknown\, although their artistic quality is undeniable. \n\n\n\nThe songs will be sung in Russian and accompanied by Czech subtitles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovoměstská radnice\, Prague\n\n\n\nGreat Hall\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme:\n\n\n\n\nPyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: selection of songs from op. 6\, 25\, and 38 \n\n\n\nSergei Rachmaninoff: selection of songs from op. 8\, 14\, 26\, and 34 \n\n\n\nNikolai Rimsky-Korsakov: Four Romances op. 39; Four Romances op. 40 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers:\n\n\n\n\nJana Hrochová – mezzo-soprano\n\n\n\n\nThe mezzo-soprano Jana Hrochová (Wallingerová)\, née Štefáčková\, gained her first singing experience in a children’s choir in the Moravian town of Šumperk. SUMMARY:Songs To The Virgin Mary
DESCRIPTION:TROUPOVÁ & HILSCHEROVÁ & JEŽEK & SÍTKOVÁ\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLet’s allow the songs that have been silent for decades to be heard! \n\n\n\n\nIn the context of the Lieder Company Prague concerts\, this will be an exceptional evening in which we will exchange the concert hall for an intimate church setting\, the piano for the majestic sound of the organ and listen to rarely performed Czech sacred vocal music of the 20th and 21st centuries. This repertoire is often overlooked in concerts – undoubtedly due to the long years of totalitarian rule\, anti-religious restrictions\, and cultural dictatorship\, which violently interrupted a tradition of Czech sacred music that was several hundred years old. Authors composing sacred works were persecuted during the communist era\, often standing outside the official sphere despite their undisputed qualities\, and their work fell into oblivion without the possibility of performance and publication. \n\n\n\nThe programme will feature works by Norbert Kubát\, Jaromír Herle\, Vojtěch Adalbert Říhovský\, Leoš Janáček\, Bedřich Antonín Wiedermann and Jan Hanuš\, and contemporary composers Luboš Sluka\, Petr Fiala\, and especially Olga Ježková and Jan Bernátek\, who composed works specifically for this concert. \n\n\n\nThe interprets will perform on the organ balcony\, but the audience can watch them thanks to a projection. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChurch Panna Maria pod řetězem\, Prague\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme:\n\n\n\n\nSacred works of prominent Czech authors of the 20th and 21st centuries on Marian texts. The world premiere of Four Songs to the Virgin Mary for middle voice and organ by Jan Bernátek and Invocation of the Virgin Mary for soprano\, alto\, violin and organ by Olga Ježková. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the videos in which the composer Olga Ježková talks about her diptych Invocation of the Virgin Mary\, which she composed for this concert on our commission\, and the composer Jan Bernátek about his cycle Four Songs to the Virgin Mary. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers:\n\n\n\n\nIrena Troupová – soprano\n\n\n\n\nThe eminent Czech soprano Irena Troupová gained international renown through the historically-based interpretation of early music\, which she devoted herself to already during her musicology studies at Charles University in Prague. She studied singing under Terezie Blumová in Prague\, later under M. Corelli in Berlin. SUMMARY:Songs Tuned to Harp
DESCRIPTION:TROUPOVÁ & HOLUB & HÄRTELOVÁ\n\n\n\n\n\nA very intimate concert featuring songs for voice and harp – an extremely interesting combination\, but one that is not often heard. The first half of the concert features works by now almost forgotten French and English women composers of the early 19th century. The second half features works by their younger colleagues of the same nationality – Louis Vierne and Benjamin Britten. \n\n\n\nThere will a premiere of a new composition A la faveur de la nuit for soprano\, tenor and harp\, set to a text by the French poet Robert Desnos\, who died in the Terezín concentration camp. This piece was commissioned by us from Sylva Smejkalová for this concert and will be given its world premiere. \n\n\n\nThe compositions will be performed in the original and accompanied by Czech subtitles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClub Salsita\, Prague\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme:\n\n\n\n\nBenjamin Britten: Eight folk songs for higher voice and harp \n\n\n\nLouis Vierne: Four Greek Songs for voice and harp \n\n\n\nSylva Smejkalová: A la faveur de la nuit (Premiere) \n\n\n\nSongs by classical and early romantic women composers: A Lady of Fashion (kolem 1800); Harriet Abrams (1760-1822); Jeanne-Renée de Travanet (1753-1828); Sophie Gail (1775-1819); Pauline Duchambge (1776-1858); Nélia Maillard (1803-1835); Maria Malibran (1808-1836) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers:\n\n\n\n\nIrena Troupová – soprano\n\n\n\n\nThe eminent Czech soprano Irena Troupová gained international renown through the historically-based interpretation of early music\, which she devoted herself to already during her musicology studies at Charles University in Prague. SUMMARY:Opera Masters' Songs – Sibera & Hrochová & Dušek
DESCRIPTION:Programme: \n\n\n\nSelected songs and cycles by Giuseppe Verdi\, Vincenzo Bellini\, Richard Wagner\, and Giacomo Puccini. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers: \n\n\n\n\nJana Sibera – soprano\n\n\n\nJana Hrochová – mezzo-soprano\n\n\n\nJan Dušek – piano\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere are composers we have inherently associated with a certain genre. Some of them are linked to opera in this way and their other works are often overlooked. For this concert\, the Lieder Company Prague has chosen works by these masters\, who\, thanks to their relationship with singing\, were also concerned with art song genre in their work. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn addition\, 2023 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of such composers: Giuseppe Verdi (1813–1901) and Richard Wagner (1813–1883)\, as well as the slightly less significant anniversary of Giacomo Puccini (1858–1924). The song works of all of the above are certainly worthy of attention. In addition\, this concert will be performed by soloists from the National Theatres in Prague and Brno\, which undoubtedly promises an exceptional evening. Soprano Jana Sibera has been recently awarded by the Thalia Award for 2022. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe songs will be performed in the originals and accompanied by Czech subtitles.

They will try to introduce you to the genre of song as one of the basic musical expressions\, which nowadays is often overshadowed by the popularity and drama of opera\, popular singing and electronic music. \n\n\n\nA trio of musicians strive to make English\, Czech\, Spanish and German songs as authentic as possible\, with an attempt to highlight the importance of folklore and the subsequent evolution to the complexity of modern music. \n\n\n\nWith piano accompaniment by Jan Dušek\, Ester Kosar will introduce you to the less frequently performed in the Czech Republic cycles Sea pictures by Edward Elgar\, Seven Spanish folk songs (7 Canciones populares Españolas) by Manuel de Falla and the cycle Five poems for female voice (Wesendonck Lieder) by Richard Wagner. Nikola Uramová will sing Dvořák’s famous Gypsy melodies and with her ringing voice she will also lead the audience into the extraordinary world of Richard Strauss’ songs. \n\n\n\nCome and tune in to the playful and tender strings. After all\, it is the very nature of singing with piano that evokes a very intimate experience for both performers and listeners. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you. \n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme: \n\n\n\n\nEdward Elgar: Sea Pictures\, op. 37\n\n\n\nAntonín Dvořák: Cigánské melodie\, op. 55\n\n\n\nManuel de Falla: 7 Canciones populares Españolas\n\n\n\nRichard Wagner: Wesendonck Lieder\, WWV 91\n\n\n\nRichard Strauss: 4 Lieder\, Op.27\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers: \n\n\n\n\nNikola Uramová – soprano\n\n\n\nEster Kosar – mezzosoprano\n\n\n\nJan Dušek – piano\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe compositions will be performed in the original language and accompanied by Czech subtitles.

DESCRIPTION:On 16 October 1912\, a major work of the 20th century was premiered in Berlin: the Pierrot Lunaire cycle by Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg. The solo part in the works of A. Schönberg and A. Zemlinsky will be taken by the renowned interpreter of 20th century music\, soprano Irena Troupová\, who will be accompanied by leading Czech instrumentalists under the direction of conductor Petr Louženský. \n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme: \n\n\n\nAlexandr Zemlinsky: Sechs Lieder op. 22Vojtěch Šembera: Commissioned piece (premiere)Arnold Schönberg: Pierrot Lunaire op. 21\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers: \n\n\n\nIrena Troupová – sopranoVojtěch Šembera – baritonePetr Louženský – conductorDaniel Havel – fluteJan Mach – clarinetDavid Danel – violin / violaBalázs Adorján – violoncelloJan Dušek – piano\n\n\nThe works will be performed in German and accompanied by Czech subtitles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Concert Season 2022 is held under the auspices of the Minister of Culture Mgr. SUMMARY:Known Unknowns (Hrochová & Červinek & Stehlík)
DESCRIPTION:Many composers constantly surprise us with their works. Many of them are familiar to us\, but there are certainly forgotten gems waiting to be discovered. The songs of this year’s jubilarians Igor Stravinsky (140th anniversary of his birth)\, Arthur Honegger (130th anniversary of his birth)\, Darius Milhaud (130th anniversary of his birth) or Zoltán Kodály (140th anniversary of his birth) are undoubtedly such pearls\, even though they will probably surprise you in connection with their names. \n\n\n\nThe protagonists of this concert\, mezzo-soprano Jana Hrochová and young baritone Robin Červinek\, are among the most sought-after song performers\, which certainly promises an unforgettable experience. They will be joined by other instrumentalists in the songs of Igor Stravinsky. The piano parts will be performed by the award-winning pianist Bohumír Stehlík. \n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme: \n\n\n\nIgor Stravinsky: Three Songs from WIlliam Shakespeare; Berceuses du chatArthur Honegger: 6 poésies; Quattre PoemsDarius Milhaud: Poëmes JuifsZoltán Kodály: Öt dal\, op. 5\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers: \n\n\n\nJana Hrochová – mezzosopranoRobin Červinek – baritoneBohumír Stehlík – pianoMartin Klimánek – fluteVít Kubík – violaKateřina Soukalová Váchová – clarinetLuděk Boura – clarinetJan Pařík – clarinet\n\n\n\n\n\nThe compositions will be performed in the original and accompanied by Czech subtitles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Concert Season 2022 is held under the auspices of the Minister of Culture Mgr. SUMMARY:In Colours of France (Sibera & Janál & Košárek)
DESCRIPTION:This year we are commemorating several anniversaries of French composers – including 200 years since the birth of César Franck\, 160 years since the birth of Claude Debussy and 60 years since the death of Jacques Ibert. \n\n\n\nWe have therefore decided to compile an evening of their songs and entrust them to the best Czech interpreters: soprano Jana Sibera and baritone Roman Janál will perform together with the excellent pianist Karel Košárek. \n\n\n\nCésar Franck’s song output does not represent any complete cycles\, only individual songs. They are rarely performed on concert stages\, not only in this country\, so we present a selection of the most impressive ones. We also rarely think of Claude Debussy as a song composer\, even though his legacy in this field is extremely rich. This concert will feature his culminating two-part song cycle set to Paul Verlaine’s poems\, Fêtes Galantes. The lesser performed but very interesting French composer Jacques Ibert will be represented by two of his quite contrasting song cycles. \n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme: \n\n\n\nCésar Franck: MélodiesClaude Debussy: Fêtes Galantes I & IIJacques Ibert: Chansons de Don Quichotte; Deux Chansons de Melpoméne\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers: \n\n\n\nJana Sibera – sopranoRoman Janál – baritoneKarel Košárek – piano\n\n\nThe works will be performed French and accompanied by Czech subtitles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Concert Season 2022 is held under the auspices of the Minister of Culture Mgr. SUMMARY:The Song of Love and Death (Troupová & Červinek & Dušek)
DESCRIPTION:The rarely performed extensive song cycle Harawi\, a key work by the French composer Olivier Messiaen\, whose death 30 years ago is commemorated this year\, will be performed by soprano Irena Troupová alongside pianist Jan Dušek. Both are among the most respected interpreters of 20th century music\, which promises an extraordinary musical experience. \n\n\n\nThe evening will be completed by the young baritone Robin Červinek\, who has won many awards\, in works by Paul Dukas and Marcel Dupré – both teachers of Olivier Messiaen. Their work\, not only their songs\, is almost unknown to the Czech audience\, and the songs will most likely be presented in Prague for the very first time. \n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme: \n\n\n\nOlivier Messiaen: HarawiPaul Dukas: Sonnet de Ronsard (Amours)Marcel Dupré: A l´amie perdue\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformers: \n\n\n\nIrena Troupová – sopranoRobin Červinek – baritoneJan Dušek – piano\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe works will be performed in French and accompanied by Czech subtitles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Concert Season 2022 is held under the auspices of the Minister of Culture Mgr.
