FROM REVIEWS:
Jana Hrochová’s voice with its colourful depths and sensitive dynamics spoke to the audience with a captivating and impressive power.
I can’t think of many singers who would have embraced Messiaen’s cycle as enchantingly as Irena Troupová.
The whole evening was full of surprises – whether it was the introduction of less played song cycles, the arrival of soloists during the singing of their colleagues, or the changing lighting according to the music…
Roman Janál is an experienced performer with a voice that allows him great dynamic differences, his vocal art is still exceptional. From the very first note it was clear that he was in great shape and he literally enjoyed the songs, or rather, he lived them. … It’s hard to find an artist who could make one song such a powerful experience.
Behind the project was pianist and composer Jan Dušek, whose efforts to make chamber songs resonate in real concert life are as admirable as they are slightly Don Quixotic for some. The result, though very minor, is of course great.
Roman Janál, whose still beautifully sounding baritone was filled with warmth and dramatic experience, also impressed. Last but not least, one must appreciate the performance of pianist Jan Dušek, who was a perfect partner to both singers in the difficult accompaniment parts.
The cycle was performed by tenor Ondřej Holub. … My admiration belonged especially to the technical mastery of the high-set tenor part.
The musical expression of the cycle was completely different – somewhat calmer, more serious, which was well captured by pianist Bohumír Stehlík.
Šembera has a beautiful colour of voice and took every opportunity to arch his phrases, at the same time it was clear that he understands the lyrics in detail, which was also evident in his expression.
Two funny Melpomèna songs were performed by Jana Sibera with a kind and light expression, it was obvious, …that they had grown on her.
From the very beginning Červinek showed himself to be an excellent song performer. His expression impressed me very sensitively, I had the impression that he was considerate even to the text itself and that he understood well what the nature of the song required.
The programme was tailor-made for both ladies (Jana Sibera & Jana Hrochová), so they excelled in all parts, the parts gave the impression, without exaggeration, that they were written for them.
