On 16 October 1912, a major work of the 20th century was premiered in Berlin: the Pierrot Lunaire<\/em> cycle by Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg. We will perform it on the day exactly 110 years later and complement the concert with a cycle by Alexander Zemlinsky, a friend and great promoter of Schoenberg\u2019s music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this concert, we have also commissioned a new piece for the identical instrumentation as Pierrot Lunaire, but with a male voice, by the young Czech composer and award-winning baritone Vojt\u011bch \u0160embera, who will sing it himself in the premiere. The solo part in the works of A. Sch\u00f6nberg and A. Zemlinsky will be taken by the renowned interpreter of 20th century music, soprano Irena Troupov\u00e1, who will be accompanied by leading Czech instrumentalists under the direction of conductor Petr Lou\u017eensk\u00fd.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
