The Depths of Romanticism Songs – Uramová & Kosar & Dušek
17 / 1 at 19:00
Atrium in cooperation with Lieder Company would like to invite you to an extraordinary concert of song cycles.
Ester Kosar (mezzo-soprano) and Nikola Uramová (soprano) together with pianist Jan Dušek will delight you with the charm of European romantic authors. They will try to introduce you to the genre of song as one of the basic musical expressions, which nowadays is often overshadowed by the popularity and drama of opera, popular singing and electronic music.
A trio of musicians strive to make English, Czech, Spanish and German songs as authentic as possible, with an attempt to highlight the importance of folklore and the subsequent evolution to the complexity of modern music.
With piano accompaniment by Jan Dušek, Ester Kosar will introduce you to the less frequently performed in the Czech Republic cycles Sea pictures by Edward Elgar, Seven Spanish folk songs (7 Canciones populares Españolas) by Manuel de Falla and the cycle Five poems for female voice (Wesendonck Lieder) by Richard Wagner. Nikola Uramová will sing Dvořák’s famous Gypsy melodies and with her ringing voice she will also lead the audience into the extraordinary world of Richard Strauss’ songs.
Come and tune in to the playful and tender strings. After all, it is the very nature of singing with piano that evokes a very intimate experience for both performers and listeners.
We look forward to seeing you.
